Jan 5/ 03 re Sept 18/02 I received an email msg from the HS requesting my help with a 5 yro very
large neutered male bouvier. He was apparently rather dominant/aggressive in the shelter with certain members of the staff so they felt he would be better off in rescue. I immediately made arrangements to pick this dog up but as I didn't have any room I contacted Kathleen Pollock to see if she could take him. We arranged to
meet later the next day. When I arrived to p/u this dog, he was leaping, barking and growling in his pen - one look in his eyes and I couldn't help but just laugh at him!! Typical male bouvier just
trying to 'bully' everyone, I told him to knock it off and he leaped up on the side of his pen with his tail wagging as if to say 'oops, here's someone that isn't going to take any of my nonsense!' and tried
to give me kisses. What an absolutely wonderful dog!! He supposedly wasn't good with men, but he was in love with my friend's husband that had driven me. 'Arland' couldn't wait to get
outside, he had to pee so bad that he ended up lying down just to finish. We waited outside almost 1/2 hr so he could finish up all the 'business' he had to do (4 bags full!!) before we could load up
in the truck to go meet Kathleen. He had refused to go in his pen and because of his 'nonsense' some of the staff were a little nervous about taking him out. We walked around the park while waiting
for Kathleen, he was wonderful on leash, very responsive to commands - so well behaved. When Kathleen arrived he greeted her with wagging tail and kisses and was more than willing to hop right up into
her truck. He spent several weeks with Kathleen being assessed and groomed before his 'forever' home was found - they think he's perfect!!! (and so do we!) |
