Dekker

Dekker has been adopted by a wonderful lady, Jane Jacobson, who recently lost her other bouvier. Dekker now has 4 skin siblings and a little 'sister' furkid by the name of "Frankie" (a smooth Dachshund). Jane tells me that Dekker has gained 8 lbs. and has taken over protecting her house and watching over the kids..

June 10/01 Unfortunately, Dekker has found himself back in rescue because of some serious family changes. He is now approx 3 yro, neutered, will be brought up to date on his shots and heartworm and is natural eared with docked tail. When Dekker originally came into rescue over a year ago he weighed in at about 50 lbs, severely emaciated with many open sores all over his body - he now weighs approx 120 lbs and is VERY overweight (by about 20 lbs). He suffers a little from separation anxiety because of being left alone for long periods, he loves older children, is good with other dogs, and is not a 'high energy' dog. Dekker needs some 're-education' with his basic leash manners, knows sit and down, is housetrained but has the occasional 'pee' accident. He will be vet checked this week. zJune 23/01 I had been contacted by a couple that had a Lhasa and really wanted a bouvier as a second dog so with the help of Joanne McCann who did the home visit and has generously agreed to be the 'safety net' and mentor to these people who are new to bouviers, Dekker has gone home!! Sandy and Ken came to meet and spend time with Dekker - it was love at first sight! They spent several hours here getting to know Dekker and making sure that 'Susie', the Lhasa, and Dekker got along. I have rec'd several phone calls about how well he is doing in his new home, Dekker loves their cat and enjoys lying out on the deck with his new 'dad'. I'll post new pics as I get them .

Sept 08/01 I received a letter today from Dekker's new parents - Sandra and Ken. She writes..

"To let you know how much we're enjoying Dekker. He's certainly fit into our family and he's showing it with the large smile that is always on his face. Dekker and the cat are buddies now. They're always arguing. Suzie is finally in love with Dekk. In fact Dekker is very protective of Suzie. He rarely allows anyone to touch her when we go for our walks. Dekk's legs are developing muscle. He's off his diet and looking fantastic. He's been no problem in the house while we're at work. I'm sending you some pictures so you can see how good he looks and how he's enjoying his new family.

Margo - we can't thank you enough for Dekker. He's fantastic!! Thank you again for the most wonderful dog! We love him so much.
