Jan 6/02 This is 'Nellie' - she is an 8 mos Bouvier/Lab X. This loving girl has not yet been spayed and she has natural tail and ears. She is energetic and playful, and knows a few basic commands.   Nellie is easily trainable and a fast learner.  She loves to go for walks and needs room to run.  Nellie likes to be brushed and loves adults, children, and other dogs. This dog has been in the HS for the past 5 months with no one showing any interest in adopting her - I was contacted by them asking for help for her - they have taken extremely good care of her and are currently fostering her for me until I can find a suitable foster home.  If you are interested in fostering Nellie or adopting her, pls contact Margo Illing at pitabouv@sympatico.ca

Feb 2/02  Nellie finally arrived here from the HS, and after spending time being assessed and working on her manners I put her on a plane to be 'whisked' away to her new 'forever' home.  Much heart felt thanks to Donna Toews from ESSRA who met Nellie's plane and spent time with her and her new family - even took pics of their first meeting - none of this would have been possible without Donna's help.

The Desmarais family had recently lost their young male bouv/lab X, McDooey, to a blood disorder and were devastated.  They began searching for another companion and came across the pic of Nellie on my website - it was love at first sight!!  Now all the hard work began - how to get her to BC the fastest and safest way possible and to get all the 'safety nets' in place.  Donna spent many hrs on the phone with this family verifying the suitability of the placement and helping to coordinate the trip.

Finally the day arrived and I put Nellie on a plane.  She was met at the airport by her new 'mom & dad', Lee and Sandra, and her new 'skinsisters', Serena, Meredith and Theresa - and of course Donna.  Everyone was very excited, many 'happy tears' shed and Nellie was the star!  She is much loved and treasured by her new family and according to them - everyone that meets her!!

It took many people to save this dogs life - from the Victoria HS that saw the very best in this pup and cared for her for many months; from Carol Shows who devoted much time to socializing and loving this pup and who originally contacted me; myself for coordinating, training etc this pup; Donna for loving all dogs regardless of their breed; to her new family....Teamwork!!  That's what rescue is all about!!
