Shayr has been in foster with us (my husband Gord and I) since approx the beginning of December 2002. She came
to us extremely unsure of everything. One could not blame her, as her life has been fairly topsy turvey in the last year.
Shayr has blossomed in that month going from being scared of even
looking at my dogs to shoulder checking them and playing with them. She cleans her dish to the point it is almost clean enough to put back in the cupboard without washing it. When she came here,
it took awhile for her to even finish a cup of food: vegetables and fruits were a foreign entity to her, now get out of her way, she wants her share too. She now sits when it is suppertime and waits
for the okay to eat. She loves to sit in front of you and get scratches and will turn around to get her bum scratched just like my guys do. Cookies are a great treat for her too - she will
sit and put her paw up to pay for the treat. She goes on walks with Gord and our guys - she does need some work in that area but doesn't pull, just wanders all over the place. A little polish (one on
one) will do wonders.
Shayr has learned a lot in just watching and has the potential to learn so much more in the right home. She does have a ways to go and still has a few things that bother her (does not
like to be taken by the collar and led in – she thinks that she is going to be crated). For some reason that bothers her. Shayr needs patience and time especially when introducing anything new, but she
now is learning to adapt quickly.
With time and the right family the sky is the limit.
